Concord, NH — On Wednesday and Thursday, the AP and NHPR reported that the New Hampshire Insurance Department ordered Aliera Healthcare to immediately stop selling or renewing health insurance in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire insurance department reportedly received “dozens” of complaints concerning Aliera misleading customers and putting consumers at risk.
State Senator Dan Feltes issued the following statement:

“While the Insurance Department’s action requiring Aliera to immediately cease all activity is a good step, it serves as a reminder that there are junk insurance plans on the market today being pushed by corporations looking to earn an extra buck at the expense of the health care of working families. Governor Sununu has supported the efforts of corporate special interests to roll back the ACA, which would open the door for more junk plans to enter the market. Wednesday’s announcement underscores just how dangerous that approach can be for Granite Staters.”
